Kinder Grammar: Describing Words
Describing words, also known as adjectives, are important parts of speech that help us to give more detail and information about the nouns they modify. Adjectives can describe the size, color, shape, texture, sound, taste, and smell of objects, as well as their thoughts and feelings.
For example, a big, red, juicy apple is much more interesting and descriptive than just an apple. And, a happy, playful puppy is much more fun and exciting than just a puppy.
To practice using adjectives, try playing a game of "I Spy" and describing objects around you using adjectives. You can also go on a nature walk and describe the plants and animals you see using adjectives.
Remember, adjectives help make our language more interesting and descriptive, so don't be afraid to use them!
